Our Chickens

We have a variety of chicken breeds ranging from big to small. They are fed a mixture of Kalmbach Henhouse reserve and the Kalmbach layer crumbles, in the winter they get black sunflower seeds mixed for extra protein especially when they are molting. We do like to feed them fresh fruits like strawberries, blueberries, lettuce and raspberries. Of course they love their meal worms and black soldier fly larvae!

We do let our ladies rest when it gets cold meaning we do not provide supplemental light so that they keep laying through winter, we want them to stay as natural as possible and they deserve the break after the buys laying season.

The coop gets cleaned daily to prevent flies and maintain general cleanliness. At least once a month the roosts and nesting boxes get sanitized.

We have a couple vets on call if any of the ladies need help with anything! We have a quarantine unit and follow all instructions the vet discusses, if antibiotics are needed then we follow the appropriate egg withdrawal period and discard any eggs that are laid.
